Saint Andeol de Vals

Saint Andeol de Vals, Ardeche, France is one of hundreds of small villages scattered across this mountainous countryside.  This is where we are staying for a few days with our friend Le Frogge and his family.

We are guests in this house…Le Frogge’s family home which was built in the 1800s.  It is situated on the main street in Saint Andeol de Vals and the church in my last post is just around the corner…

This is a morning view from one of the windows on the top floor and at the back of the house…

As you can see….the countryside is beautiful.   This is another village that we pass on the road to Aubenas.  Aubenas is one of two large towns within 10 or 15 kms.

I wish that I could get in a helicopter and take an aerial view to show you the lattice-work of narrow, winding, up-and-down roads that mark this countryside.  (Cycling is hard work here!)  There is a small village every few miles with churches dotted all along the way…the churches we believe are around circa 1400’s!

Speaking of churches…here are slides from the Ulmer Meunster…the beautiful Gothic church in Ulm, Germany that I posted a few days ago.

Tomorrow I have something for you that is completely different from my usual posts and extremely French!

Thanking you for taking a picture of our home in St Andeol de Vals.
The first house on the right is called Le Mas La Pierre where my parents staid until their final departure last year. This house is full of life, memories, laughter’s and hope.
Thanking you again.

We spent 10 days with your family in Le Mas La Pierre and it was a highlight of our 6 month trip around Europe!
A beautiful area too!
