Leaving Kuala Lumpur, First Stop Vienna

by on April 19, 2008

After 3 years in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, we’ve departed for an extended tour of Europe.

As we ate our last breakfast in KL…a fruit smoothy of fresh papaya, dragonfruit, sweet bananas and fresh orange juice…we worried that we would miss the abundance of tropical fruit that Asia offers.

But hoorah horrah! It is the berry season.

And here in Vienna (our first port-of-call) we are enjoying the tart taste of fresh blueberries (blaubeeren), raspberries (himbeeren) and strawberries (erdbeeren)…fruits that are rarely freshly available in Malaysia and expensive if found!

Raspberries and blueberries in Wien are ?1.69 ($2.64, $A2.82) per 125g and strawberries are ?1.99 ($3.11, $A3.32) per 500g.

Dear Ice,
Aunt Frannie just sent me you blogsite. What wonderful pictures and commentary. Thanks for sharing your travels. It’s interesting, as I had just finished an e-mail to a very good friend in Garmisch. Are you traveling all of Europe?
Love,
Jan
