Our last day in Ardeche we traveled with our friend Le Frogge to the town of Les Vans..about 60kms from St Andeol…to spend the day with his niece, Ee, whom we’ve met before when she visited Sydney…some years ago.
Slice cavorting with one of the locals…
Ee fed us a fabulous lunch with an assortment of French cheeses, artisan sausages, delicious red wine, and…
these fresh from the garden !!!
And with coffee we had the most scrumptious chocolate.
Then she took us for a walk to see a dolmen…an ancient tomb left by prehistoric peoples who occupied the area thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago…
On this day we woke up to pouring rain and it poured all the way to Les Vans and during our lunch and then it stopped and then it broke just long enough for our stroll to the dolmen.
Here are slides of this countryside including part of our walk through a beautiful wet, green forest to the dolmen. The rock walls that you see in these slides are also ancient…thought to be the ruins of some sort of shelter or perhaps animal pens.
It was a most memorable day!
ce beau pay, je tiens a marcher le long de trip!
