La Rochelle Flashback

This is both a flashback to La Rochelle (with slides) and a sneak preview of things to come.

In my previous post about La Rochelle, I mentioned that the Laterne Tower is also known as the Priest Tower because of a massacre that occurred there during the religious wars.

Related to the La Rochelle massacre in this astounding building…St Etienne’s (La Cathedral de Bourges…circa 1195 and 1324)

…there is a small chapel dedicated to three priests that died at Rochefort which is just 40kms from La Rochelle…

You can just see this plaque underneath the window… Photobucket

…and here is the window depicting the priests…

Naturally! I’ll post slides of Bourges (a beautiful town) and that cathedral…but other things to come first.  I just wanted to tease you a little bit.

In the meantime, here are slides of the streets of La Rochelle and a show of the cathedral there, La Cathedral St Louis (circa 1724).
